What kind of business is this?
It is a direct sales business. You will be an independent consultant. The advantages of being an independent consultant are vast but the greatest advantages are being able to start a business with very little financial investment, working your own schedule, and working with a team and company that will support you in your venture. You may sell online, person-to-person, parties, fairs, expos, fundraisers, etc.
How much money can I earn?
How much you earn is based on how much product you sell and whether you choose to lead a team of consultants.

Why do I have to pay to get started?
This is a business opportunity. You are paying for the tools (starter kit) to help you get started in your new business.
How am I paid?
You earn 20% commission on your product sales until you sell your first $1000 in product. You then move up to earn 25% of your retail sales (before tax/ship). If you sell $1000 in product in a month you earn $250. If you sell $2000 or more in a month you earn 30% commission ($2000 x 30% = $600 commission). You can earn additional bonuses and team commission if you choose to grow your business. You do not receive a discount upfront. Scentsy will provide you with a Visa pay card and your commission will be loaded to the card once a month. You may transfer the funds to your bank account at no charge or use the card for everyday purchases.
Do I need experience to start this business?
No experience is necessary! A desire to start your own business along with enthusiasm to learn is all you need.
Do I need to make the candles myself?
No, all of the products are manufactured by the main company and shipped from the main company.
Do I need to have home parties or shows?
Home parties are a profitable way to have a successful business and are encouraged, however, you may sell thru other venues.
Do I have to pay for hostess benefits if I do home parties?
No. There is a $5 party fee if all of the hostess benefits are not used. If all hostess benefits are used (free and half-price items) there is no fee.
Who pays the tax and shipping on hostess benefits?
The Hostess pays her own tax. Qualified parties or individual orders entered into the system as a party ($150 or more) shipping to one address receive free shipping!
Do I have to deliver products to the hostess or customers?
No. Orders can be shipped directly to customers by the company. Parties are delivered directly to the hostess. You can choose to have the product delivered to you if you prefer.
Do I need a minimum number of orders for a qualified show?
No. Any order/orders totaling $150 qualifies as a show/party.
Do I have to submit sales tax to my state?
No. You collect the state/local sales tax for each order and submit it to company who in turn will submit to the proper authorities.
Are there monthly, quarterly, or annual quotas?
To remain an active consultant you must submit $150 in orders in one month every three months. This is just four times a year! As a team leader you are required to submit $500 in retail sales in order to earn commission on your teams sales. If you have team members and you do not submit $500 you still earn your personal commission for your own sales.
Can I sell the product in retail stores or through the Internet?
You can sell online through your company provided website. You are not allowed to sell in retail stores. You may sell at vendor events. Do I have to purchase inventory?
No. Your starter kit is all you need to begin your new home business. Each month a new scent is introduced and you may want to purchase a sample. Samples are as little as .75 cents each.
Will I receive a a website?
Yes. Your website is included with the purchase of your kit for the first 3 months. Afterwards, your website subscription will be $10 a month and will be deducted from your account each month. The subscription includes a monthly e-newsletter to your subscribers/customers each month.
What other expenses can I expect?
You will need to restock catalogs and order forms as you use them. Catalogs are a little as $30 for a pack of 100. You will want to order scent samples as the candle scents change. Other investments are up to you.
Is this a work at home job?
No. This is a home business opportunity. You will be an independent consultant, not an employee of the company.
What can I expect after I start my business?
You will be given access to your website. When you log in you will have access to place orders, track orders, learn more about the company and business, print flyers, learn more about earning bonuses and trips, join the forum where you can connect with other consultants, listen to training recordings, learn about upcoming training and seminars, and more.
